1. Summary
NMS management system is used for managing PDH devices, it has network management functions of enquiry alarm, performance and data configuration.  System request Microsoft Windows TM NT/2000 series operating system; CPU of above Pentium TM II350; EMS memory of above 256MB; Display resolution of 1024×768; Harddisk of above 10Gb spare capacity.  Software installation NMS software installation is very simple, user only needs to find installation file setup.exe,and then install according to the clews.

2. Communication mode of network management
NMS network management system can manage multi units of PDH in multi-network.

2.1 Short-range management
PDH devices only offer one kind of network management port: serial port. If there is only ETH in external environment, you can use virtual serial card. PDH can support 16 serial ports at most.

Serial Network Management method

If using keyboard. please press “Add” directly. there will be pull-down menu of adding subnet.2 Enter the main interface 3. there will be followed dialog box.3 Add subnet When PDH is running for the first time. Note: you can add multi Subnet at the same time in NMS . click “Add Subnet”. Click right key of mouse.

after clicking “Add Subnet” or press ENTER. and there will be dialog box of successful operation.NMS User Manual Page 9 of 26 Input subnet name directly in the dialog box. subnet will be added. Use the “Add Description”to describe the Subnet Enter the description .

Then choose the device type and set the Ne Name in this interface. can add multi –Ne in one Subnet. there will be the interface of adding network element.4 Add network element Select subnet which has been added. in one Subnet can add multi units of devices. the device view in NMS will be show. that is. After click the “Add”.

the NMS system will show the state of PDH.NMS User Manual Page 16 of 26 When the PDH has connected the NMS system. The red LED in the panel means alarm. If there is any alarm in current PDH the Ne will show red . The green LED in the panel means the state normal.

1 Button in the NMS system Save: save current settings into system. and show them through network manager interface. they are stored to FLASH memorizer. through clicking Apply button. but need “Download” to device. can use for setting of other devices. Default: resume the default value configured by interface.2 Alarm information in the NMS system Click the “Local Alarm” button can check the local alarm. Download: after data of network manager interface is configured. the default data can be sent down to device. then setting can become effective. the configuring data can be sent down to device through clicking Download button. Broadcast Storm Protection:“Enable” shows to enable restrain function of ETH Broadcast Storm.1q Tag: “Insert” shows to insert Tag. when the data packet which is output from this port has been with Tag. don’t make any changes. insert VLAN ID which is default in input port in the data packet. Attribute configuration of each ETH port includes 802. remove this Tag. LAN port shows 4 ETH ports offered by device. if without Tag. Speed and Duplex configuration of each ETH port. WAN port is inner port of device. this port only allows 1% of ETH Broadcast packet to pass. 2. 5 Set the E1 Channel In “E1 Channel” view. can check the estate of each E1 of device.7.NMS User Manual Page 25 of 26 Speed and Duplex:can be separately set to be AUTO. “Local Loop” or “Remote Loop”. can set each E1 channel as “No Loop”. forced 100M full-duplex. . which is easy to test and manage estate of each E1 channel. forced 100M half-duplex. 3. force 10M half-duplex. force 10M full-duplex. also can set loop estate of each E1 channel.

9 Disconnect the device.NMS User Manual Page 26 of 26 3. . 3.8 Status of the device This view mainly shows the working estate of current device. Use of button“Disconnect”is to disconnect RS232 connection of NMS system and device.
